Provide the absolutely best service to our clients in making the home mortgage process as easy as possible while continuing our growth in a well controlled environment.

History:

The company was founded in 2005 by Jacques E. Laubert. After selling his previous mortgage company, and investment properties in New York Jacques made the decision to form a mortgage company that would be the very best in the mortgage business.  December of 2007 marked our return to the Greater Binghamton Region with the opening of an office in Johnson City right across from the Oakdale Mall.  The growth of the company is under a controlled growth plan, meaning that we wish to maximize our personal one on one relationships with our clients while not becoming a "boiler room" of mortgage products and rates.

Educational Opportunities:

For everyone working at Razor, educational opportunities abound. In addition to daily learning and job enhancement, formal education is available from a variety of sources. The primary conduits are the National Association of Mortgage Brokers, Virginia Association of Mortgage Brokers, and the various banks with whom we have wholesale relationships. From monthly meetings to annual seminars, the company encourages personal growth.

As employees mature in the company, they gain opportunities for travel and attendance at national meetings. In addition, the company supports personal growth by offering partial tuition for certification programs directly related to Mortgage Lending.

Razor Mortgage LLC offers an expansive package of employee benefits, including:

Medical Coverage

On the 1st of the month following 90 days of continuous full time employment employee is eligible the company offered health insurance plan.  

Vacation

Each full time employee will accrue 1 week of paid vacation after 1 year of continuous full time employment.

 401K  Razor Employees become eligible for our 401K plan after being in the employ of Razor as required by the plan.  It offers a 100% match on up to 4% of your salary based upon your participation in the plan.  There is also a discretionary proift sharing plan with a varying vesting schedule! 

Sick Leave

Sick leave time is accrued by earning 12 hours after six months of continuous employment, thereafter 2 hours will be earned per month.

Holidays

Razor Mortgage LLC recognizes 7 paid holidays each year: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas.

Additional There are various other benefits available at Razor including, Family Leave, Bereavement, Jury Duty Leave etc.  All are outlined in the employee manual or if offered employment in your offer letter.

Management Style & Culture:

This will not be like any place you have ever worked before. Our culture is made up of two completely conflicting management styles.

Total Quality Management is applicable to the management style at Razor Mortgage LLC, as it seeks to offer high quality services to clients. The four components of TQM include: 1) assess client needs and expectations; 2) set standards of quality and workmanship for the staff; 3) empower staff to deliver service standards matching the quality; and 4) re-evaluate and make corrections as necessary.

Project autonomy is provided as an individual demonstrates they can successfully accomplish unsupervised tasks. We try to start everyone on the easy stuff, this is to build a comfort level and avoid feeling drowned, at least early. Then as client familiarity grows along with project understanding everyone is left to manage their own work, priorities and projects. This does allow for failures, which is exactly what TQM tries to prevent. However, the autonomy creates self esteem and employees that are much happier creating their own work environment.

Mistakes will happen. They are a fact of life. Mistakes are divided into 2 categories. Those that are noticed by clients/transactional partners and those that are noticed by each other.

We are all here to fulfill our clients’ perception of perfect service. If a client/transactional partner perceives that our services are not perfect, that is a big deal and must be remedied aggressively and quickly.

Mistakes that are noticeable only to each other are the most common. Those are learning experiences that teach all of us where we need to be more careful in the future. They are encouraged and welcome opportunities to ensure perfect client perceptions.

All client complaints or requests are studied for latent needs. It is through these comments that many new successful projects are created.
